JOB PURPOSE
Maintenance Crew Leaders (Foremen) are responsible for leading and managing assigned crew members and also performing a variety of operational tasks involving horticulture, equipment operation, and site management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Landscape Maintenance
- Ensure daily execution of essential property care duties including, but not limited to, mowing, weeding, pruning, deadheading, spring/fall clean up, and edging.
- Apply basic chemicals safely if they are certified and use chemical application equipment safely.
- Understand priorities for various jobs including how to approach job responsibilities; report issues (e.g., irrigation, safety, equipment) to the Account Manager; and provide excellent service to clients, work-site partners, and company staff.
- Complete assignments within labor goals while ensuring all job quality performance expectations are met in accordance with company standards.
- Review weekly work order reports and close out completed jobs within five days.
- Respond to customer requests within contract allowances; comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe, secure, organized and clean vehicle and work site
- Perform/lead snow removal work when needed.
Crew Management
- Lead crew to meet efficiency goals/budgeted service hours
- Train crew members in safe operation of tools and equipment
- Participate in performance appraisals of crewmembers
- Ensure work performed meets safety, quality, and service standards
- Actively participate in safety meetings
- Lead by example and help team members to grow and develop their skills
Working Conditions
- Work is predominately outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels
- Exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Experience Requirements
- At least two (2) years of professional landscape management experience and one (1) year performing functions as a crew leader.
Preferred Education Requirements
- High School or equivalent
- A current drivers license and clean driving record
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are desirable
Required Skills
- Use hand tools, equipment, and chemicals properly and safely.
- Communicate and work effectively with others; time management, work independently.
- Lead a single work crew; perform routine maintenance procedures; follow directions; complete administrative forms and provide excellent customer service.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces
- Stoop, kneel, and/or bend to pick up or move objects
- Walking for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces
- Move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
