Professional Grounds Joins the DCRís Virginia Voluntary Water Quality Agreement Program

LORTON, VA, IMMEDIATE RELEASE–The Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) coordinates Virginia’s voluntary water quality agreement program with lawn care companies as part of the Chesapeake Bay restoration effort. With nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers being one of the primary sources of runoff pollution affecting the Bay, efforts are being made to manage the application of fertilizers on lawns in more efficient and environmentally friendly way. Lawn care companies that participate in the program agree to apply fertilizer using time tested nutrient management standards to assure that most of the fertilizer applied is utilized by the turf instead of being lost to runoff. In 2008, Professional Grounds, entered into a voluntary agreement with DCR to implement nutrient management to protect the Chesapeake Bay. Click Here for full press release
